Throughout the USA, harmful defective drugs are plaguing small babies and their families. Such drugs can trigger birth defects to the newborn child’s lungs, heart, spine, brain and other vital organs, and these defects may mandate expensive surgery or treatments.
One of these defective drugs is Zoloft, an antidepressant. More precisely, defective drug Zoloft is what’s called an SSRI antidepressant, signifying that it is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor. Drugs such as Zoloft are known to be responsible for major birth defect injuries if the expectant mother took the antidepressant, particularly in the first trimester.
Due to hormonal imbalances and other factors, many pregnant women suffer from depression, and this should be treated. Yet sadly, while some antidepressant drugs help reduce anxiety or depression, the same drugs can spark devastating side effects, including various birth defect injuries.
